On February 17, 2015, SHLC Attorney Brett Sutton testified in front of the Nevada Assembly Judiciary Committee on behalf of the Nevada Restaurant Association and a group of community leaders from Incline Village in support of Assembly Bill 110. AB 110 was sponsored by Rep. Randy Kirner to serve as a more powerful deterrent to unfounded and harassing lawsuits.

Harassing lawsuits place unwarranted and unmanageable financial strain on defendants and waste the precious time and resources of the courts. The new Assembly Bill would make the award of attorney fees and costs mandatory when that party engages in frivolous or vexatious litigation. If a court finds that litigation is frivolous or vexatious, AB 110 requires that an appropriate award of attorney fees and costs be made.
